We are very pleased to announce that Marena Sofia Ramirez has joined our Firm. Ms. Ramirez grew up in Miramar, but moved to the state of Florida during her teenage years. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1994, and then worked in the insurance industry for five years, primarily in the claims handling process. She then decided to pursue a career as an attorney, and attended Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. After she obtained her Juris Doctor in 2007, she returned to Puerto Rico where she clerked for the Honorable Gustavo A. Gelpi and Honorable Aida Delgado-Colon. Ms. Ramirez will be working primarily in our federal litigation practice, but will support other practice areas. Ms. Ramirez is a member of the Florida bar (2007), First Circuit Court of Appeals (2008), and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico (2009).

The Firm participated in SIFE Puerto Rico’s National Competition. On behalf of the Firm were present our Partner Gerardo Hernández, Staff Attorney Maité Medero and Billing Manager Tania Duarte (left to right on the photo). WELO Partner Kenneth Suria and Senior Staff Attorney Thomas Trebilcock scored a victory in federal court when they secured a favorable jury verdict for Sam's Club in a personal injury case filed by a customer that alleged she was injured at Sam's.  Judgment was handed down on April 13 2009.  WELO has represented Wal-Mart and Sam's Club since 1991.
